130 years ago, Louis and Auguste Lumière invented the Cinematograph and… the cinema! By filming Lyon, Paris and the entire planet, they brought the world to the world. Through still shots, panoramas, comedies, dramas, faces and landscapes, the era of cinema began…
Drawing on a hundred restored films, Thierry Frémaux invites us to share with him the legacy left by the Lumières: unforgettable images and a glimpse of France and the world as they entered the 20th century.
Captured in the silence of silent cinema or accompanied by the graceful music of pianist Didier Martel, this extraordinary work will be screened at the Grand Rex on 12 December 2025, and the adventure will continue in autumn 2026!
