OLIVIER GLUZMAN
Biography
Olivier Gluzman has been practicing as a manager and promoter for over 40 years.
Olivier Gluzman was born in Suresnes, France, in 1956. As a young child, he became aware of the power of music, moved by the voice of Édith Piaf. Through a combination of luck and daring, aged 12, he met Régine — a French actress, singer and businesswoman — who put him in charge of her fan club: the Boa Club. Régine thus introduced him to the backstage scenes of many performance halls and television sets. Aged 15, he learned tap dancing, which he then started to teach three years later.
1982: at age 25 he joined a small label, Musicomédia, created by Gladys Gabison. Brenda Wootton, the Cornish woman, was his first artist. Olivier organized her tours, managed her contracts, and became her manager and promoter. Olivier is a manager, but not a producer. Musicomédia’s artists —Angélique Ionatos, Maria Carta and Brenda Wootton, but also Pierre Perret — ushered him into the French cultural network and the international showbiz scene, including the annual Avignon Theater Festival and the Théâtre de la Ville, with whom he has been partnering ever since.
Detached from Musicomédia, Olivier retained the management of Brenda Wootton and founded the Olivier Gluzman artistic agency in early 1983. Favorites kept coming in: Lluis Llach, Toto Bissainthe, Paolo Conte, whose international career Olivier is still currently promoting. Added to this are Mercedes Sosa and Léo Ferré. With a relentless curiosity, Olivier has been scouring small venues, falling under the spell of Maurane or Arthur H. The largest Parisian theaters then opened their doors to him: he’s earned the trust of famous venues such as Olympia, Bobino and Théâtre de la Ville.
During the current decade, thanks to a new contract signed with Julia Migenes in 1984 (their collaboration extended over 30 years), Olivier gained access to a prestigious international network. At the same time, Maurane triumphed on all French-speaking stages, including with Starmania — the French Rock Opera.
New VDS stars: Zachary Richard, Ute Lemper, Diane Dufresne, Lambert Wilson (whose career as a singer is just beginning).
