SINGS FROM PURCELL TO DALIDA

Ever since I learned how to shower by myself, I sing!
In the bath, I hum.
Every morning, I sing Luis Mariano or Dalida,
Mozart or Armanet,
Purcell or Frehel,
Damia or Reggiani or Moustaki,
Poulenc or Satie,
Amalia Rodrigues or Adamo.
These are my mantras.
They keep me going when I cry.
They keep me going when I feel like smashing everything up.
I love them,
I adore them,
I offer them to you.
The Fall… yes, because in a text there always has to be a Fall!!!!…:
It’s because, as Claude François sings, as Sinatra sings,
I did it My WAY.

BIOGRAPHY

While Dominique Blanc was attending the Cours Florent drama school, Patrice Chéreau, impressed by her sensitivity, hired her for his production of Peter Gynt at the TNP theatre in Villeurbanne. She worked with him again in 2003 in Jean Racine’s Phèdre, then in 2010 in Marguerite Duras’ La douleur.
A demanding and loyal actress, Dominique Blanc chooses the characters she plays and her directors, both in theatre and in film and television.

Régis Wargnier directed her three times, in La Femme de ma Vie (nomination for Most Promising Actress – César 1987); Je suis le seigneur du château (nomination for Most Promising Actress – César 1989); Indochine (César for Best Supporting Actress 1993).

A multi-award-winning artist, her performances in films by Louis Malle (Milou en mai) and Patrice Chéreau (Ceux qui m’aiment prendront le train) earned her two more César Awards. She also won a César Award for Best Actress in Stand by by Rock Stephanik. In 2008, the Venice Film Festival awarded her the Best Actress prize for L’autre by Pierre Trividic and PM Bernard.

On the small screen, she has worked three times with Nina Companeez (L’allée du Roi; Un pique-nique chez Osiris and À la recherche du temps perdu), with Laurent Heynemann, Amos Gitaï, Joël Farges, Gabriel Aghion…
