Woody Allen and his New Orleans jazz band

For many years Woody Allen joins every Monday his musician friends at the Carlyle Café in New York City. With the clarinet in his hands he takes a musical break from his rich cinematographic life. For the past seven years Les Visiteurs du Soir have organised once or twice per season a European tour for this unusual group from the Jazz planet. The latest European tour took place in December 2007. His next visit to the French capital is planned for the second part of December.

Jane Birkin

After writing and directing her first feature film "Boxes", Jane Birkin has also, for the first time, written her own songs. On the occasion of the release of her album, "Enfants d'hiver", she has embarked on a tour taking her to the four corners of the world until February 2010, including 5 concerts at the mythical Palace theatre in Paris (from 12 until 15 March 2009 and 13 December 2009). The album "Jane Birkin live at the Palace" was released by EMI in September. In 2009 Jane Birkin was invited to the Avignon Festival on the occasion of "Carte Blanche to Wajdi Mouawad" as reader of a text originally written for her by the stage director and played the main role in Jacque Rivette's new film "Around a small mountain" (September 2009) and the first feature film of Benoit Pétré "Thelma, Louise and Chantal" (March 2010).

Biyouna

The Algerian icon Biyouna is film director Nadir Miknèche's favoured actress ("Viva l'Aldjérie", "Délice Paloma"). Her album "Une Blonde dans la casbah" has unanimously been welcomed by the critics. Since its release in 2006 Biyouna has conquered a new public in France and abroad with the show originating from the recording. For the theatre Biyouna is currently preparing her first "one woman show".

The male voice of Fado. Fado singer since his childhood, Camané has sold over six million records and is considered in Portugal as one of the best artists. On stage He sings his latest album "Sempre de Mim" (EMI Portugal 2008). On this occasion, Les Visiteurs du Soir announce an international tour which will started this summer 2010.

Luz Casal

Luz Casal's next album "La Pasion" (release in October 2009) is truly going back to the style of her unforgettable song "Piensa en mi" used in Pedro Almodovar's film "High Heels". Luz Casal resumes the repertory of Mexican and Cuban boleros of the 1950's. They are cheered up by arrangements including symphonic work resulting in an album full of character and fluidity. Luz Casal presented the show at the Chatelet Theatre on November 10th and 11th 2009. An additional Parisian concert will take place at the Olympia Theatre on April 14th 2010.

For his concert "Paolo Symphonique", the Italian maestro returns to his greatest hits in symphonic arrangements by Bruno Fontaine who will also conduct the music. Chanson, Jazz, Boogie and other great hits by Paolo Conte are put together for moment of simple and refined happiness.

Diane Dufresne

Following the triumphant success of her new show at the Bouffes du Nord theatre in Paris, Diane Dufresne has been preparing a concert with voice and piano for a tour to take place in 2010. Together with the pianist Gérard Daguerre, the Diva from Quebec will interpret her greatest hits but also repertory from Kurt Weill. The DVD of the Bouffes du Nord performances will be released by EPM next January and coincide with the publishing of her biography by Michel Lafon.

Considered to be the last great legendary singer of the Arab world, every concert of Fairouz is an event. In July 2007 she thrilled an audience of 5000 who had across the world to the Athens Festival to applaud the mythical voice from Lebanon. Agnès Jaoui

Actress Agnès Jaoui wanted more than giving a singer's voice to the characters she normally interprets ("Le rôle de sa vie", "Comme une image" ...). Therefore, in 2005, she created a show sung in Spanish and Portuguese in which she was joined by a Latin group of musicians. These concerts led to her first album "Canta", released by the record label "Tôt ou Tard" and awarded with a "Victoire de la Musique". Agnès Jaoui is once again on tour with a new show called "Dans mon pays" ("In my country"). An album with the eponymous title will be released next November.

Layori

Soul revelation from Africa, Layori launches on 29 March her first album "Origin" (Remark Records). She is a woman from Nigeria who has travelled the world. In her album she mixes its cultural influences together with its African roots. Her first single "Dada" is interpreted in yoruba, her native language and is a mix of pop, reggae, soul and jazz. She is already compared to Sade, Nina Simone and Tracy Chapman and she will sing at the first part of Angelique Kidjo's concert at La Cigale on April 17, 2010 at 20h.

Ute Lemper

Ute Lemper's new show "Angels over Berlin and the World" was premiered at the National Theatre of Chaillot (Paris) last December. It is structured in the form of a journey through cities she feels closely connected to starting in Berlin with songs by Kurt Weill and Bertold Brecht. Included are also a Yiddish song cycle as well as French poetry by Jacques Brel and Léo Ferré.

Julia Migenes

Julia Migenes' extraordinary qualities as an opera singer melt with those of a great actress. She just released her new album "Hollywood Divas". During the eponymous show, Julia Migenes interprets the greatest moments of Hollywood Divas. An occasion to revive once more the golden age of cinema and to recall legendary actresses such as Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich and Carmen Miranda. Julia Migenes presented excerpts at the opening of the American Film Festival 2009 in Deauville. For another show called "Julia Migenes sings Schubert", she offers a juxtaposition of Schubert Lieder and readings of his correspondence. On this occasion, she is joined on stage by various actors including Philippe Calvario.

Mademoiselle and her encounters... In duets with singers and actors making up an impressive cast Regine takes a fresh look at her greatest hits in her album "Regine's duets". Caetano Veloso

Caetano Veloso is a living legend amongst the Brazilian Tropicália movement (a music movement arising in Brazil since 1967). He is a Bahian poet, an author, a composer, an interpreter and a guitarist and without doubt one of the most respected Brazilian musicians in the world. In March 2010 Caetano Veloso will present the show corresponding to his new album "Zii e Zie" (released by Universal Jazz in June 2009).

Lambert Wilson

In between the shooting of films and his work as an actor and director at the theatre, Lambert Wilson continues his career as a singer. Next February he will sing together with Kristin Scott Thomas and Leslie Caron in a production of "A little night music" directed by Lee Blakeley on the stage of the Chatelet Theatre. It will be the first musical by Stephen Sondheim put on stage in France.

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Returning to the Châtelet theatre for six performances last April, these remarkable humorous artists and masters of travesty take a playful and humorous look at the classical ballet and interpreting this with great male assurance. With a popular appeal they aim at transmitting the pleasure of dance to a great audience, but above all the "Trocks" strive for quality and the respect of academic codes. The "Trocks" will be on tour in France from 18 October to 7 November 2010.

Dominique Blanc / La Douleur by Marguerite Duras Stage Patrice Chéreau and Thierry Thieû Niang

Since November 2008, Dominique Blanc has been playing in "La Douleur" by Marguerite Duras staged by Patrice Chéreau and Thierry Thieû Niang. This autobiographical story is an excerpt from the diary of Marguerite Duras which she wrote during the Second World War while she was waiting for the return of her husband sent to a concentration camp. Alone on stage, Dominique Blanc recalls all the intensity of the "Durassien" novel. It plays between hope nourished by the Liberation and the uncertainty of knowing whether her husband is still alive. Dominique Blanc's performance was unanimously welcomed by the critics. She will present "La douleur" at the Théâtre de l'Atelier in Paris from 17 September until 11 October 2009.

This show takes up few unforgettable moments of "Nulle part ailleurs" sketches but also excerpts from Laurent Chalumeau's novel "Un mec sympa" (Ed. Grasset) and his new book "En Amérique" (Ed. Grasset - November 09).

Mikaël Chirinian / Rapport sur moi by Grégoire Bouillier

Mikaël Chirinian plays the role of Grégoire in "Rapport sur moi" an adaptation of Grégoire Bouillier's roman (Staging Anne Bouvier). Alone on stage, Mikaël Chirinian describes Grégoire's childhood and the absurdity of his strange life. The play was positively noted by the critics at the Avignon Festival 2008. It works like a mirror and between fantasies and laughter invites the viewer to reconsider his or her own life. Mikaël Chirinian has been playing the role of Grégoire in "Rapport sur moi" at the Tristan Bernard theatre in Paris (February and March 2009).

In a production directed by Marc Rivière and accompanied by the cellist Maëva Le Berre, Jean-Louis Foulquier takes his first steps on stage interpreting the eponymous best seller of Philippe Delerm. The premiere will be at the La Coursive Theatre in La Rochelle next November and at the Theatre Du Rond Point in Paris in March 2010.

The Magic Flute (From the Townships of South Africa)

Presented at the Chatelet Theatre in October 2009 (coinciding with performances of master work by Mozart), the South African version of "The Magic Flute" will seduce the international public in world tour in 2010. It was awarded with an Oliver Award for the BEST MUSICAL REVIVAL. The magic of the South African version plays with a mixture of music and dance and yet stays faithful to the maestro.

Jean-Louis Trintignant / Trois poètes libertaires du 20è siècle

Following the presentation of texts by Aragon, poems by Guillaume Apollinaire and more recently "The Diary of Jules Renard", Jean-Louis Trintignant (accompanied by accordionist Daniel Mille) invites us to rediscover three great poets from the 20th century : Jacques Prévert, Boris Vian and Robert Desnos. The show will be directed by Gabor Rassov.
